The Macedonian flag hoisted at NATO Corridor in the Pentagon: US congratulates Sekerinska on Northern Macedonia’s vision and personal commitment to NATO membership
A ceremony of unveiling the Macedonian flag was held at the NATO Corridor in the Pentagon, which after gaining NATO membership, joined the 29 flags of the other member states of the Alliance.
The flag was symbolically unveiled by Minister Radmila Shekerinska and US Assistant Secretary of Defense Laura Cooper.
Pointing out that North Macedonia’s membership in NATO has strengthened peace and stability in the region, Cooper thanked Minister Shekerinska for her personal commitment to NATO membership and for her huge contribution to the development of Macedonian-US relations.
The ceremony was also attended by US Ambassador to North Macedonia, Kate Marie Byrnes, who stated in her address that our NATO membership is crucial for the stability and progress of the region, and congratulated Shekerinska on her, as she said, leadership and vision in achieving the strategic goals of the state.
Shekerinska stressed that the success with NATO membership is a result of strong political courage, 30 years of hard work, but also the constant support of friends like the United States. “Thank you for believing in us,” the Minister said.
The ceremony was also attended by Maureen Cormack, Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, who also covers our region, the Director of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, Heidi Grant, and other Pentagon officials, representatives of the Macedonian Embassy in Washington and the US Embassy in Skopje.
