ADDRESS BY THE MINISTER OF DEFENCE, ZORAN JOLEVSKI, ON THE OCCASION OF THE SIGNING OF CONTRACTS FOR THE EMPLOYMENT OF FORMER PROFESSIONAL SOLDIERS

Distinguished,

It represents a special honour for me today that we will be signing contracts for your re-engagement in the state institutions of the Republic of Macedonia. As you may know the Army of the Republic of Macedonia and the Minister of Defence are investing a lot in your training to gain skills that are important to you as professional soldiers, but also skills that other state institutions and the private sector can utilize in the future. Your skills acquired during your service in the ARM as professional soldiers are of extraordinary quality. The training you receive in the Army is extremely important so that this legal document from the Government of the Republic of Macedonia will allow your knowledge and skills to be used by other state institutions as well, and I hope in the future that the private sector will be also more interested.

I have on many occasions pointed out the example when as ambassador I visited one company and its production facilities. One of those floors was the best organized. On the question, whether you have a former military officer who led the floor, I received a positive answer. I was told it was the best organized floor.

Your skills are very important not only for us as an Army of the Republic of Macedonia, but also for other institutions. Because of the type of profession, your engagement in the Army of the Republic of Macedonia ends at the age of 45 years as a result of legislation, and with the adoption of the latest legislative decision, we as the Ministry of Defence and other institutions enable your employment in some other institutions that require your services.

I would like to express my gratitude to the other institutions that expressed willingness to welcome you. I want to emphasize that I am proud that several institutions have the desire and request to receive a large number of you. It is a good sign for us as an Army of the Republic of Macedonia and for you, the skills that you gained in the defence, but also an indicator that other state institutions appreciate the skills that you have.

Today we will sign contracts with 112 former members of the Army, some of you will remain in the Ministry of Defence, however other institutions expressed willingness and requirements, such as the Ministry of Health, Directorate for Execution of Sanctions and Judicial Police, so a part of you will move to these institutions.

This permanently solves your question about employment and shows that we as a Ministry and Government care about your quality of life even after your service in the Army of the Republic of Macedonia.
