Today, the Minister of Defence, Radmila Shekerinska, held a meeting with the Chief of the Armed Forces of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Lieutenant Admiral Rob Bauer. The meeting focused on the intensification of the bilateral defence cooperation, new defence challenges, participation in international missions and the opportunities provided by the Krivolak Military Range for conducting joint training and exercises.
Minister Shekerinska expressed appreciation for the support for NATO accession and said that the membership in the Alliance is a chance to intensify the defence cooperation between North Macedonia and the Kingdom of the Netherlands. “Our two countries have an excellent history of cooperation in defence and I am convinced that the accession of North Macedonia in NATO will give a new impetus to the further intensification of that cooperation and holding joint trainings and exercises”, the minister said.
Admiral Bauer congratulated Shekerinska on NATO membership and the new mandate in the Government, and expressed readiness for the Netherlands to take a more active role in leading North Macedonia through NATO structures in order for our country to settle sooner in the Alliance.
The Netherlands Chief of Defence is on a three-day visit to North Macedonia, which, according to the Embassy of the Netherlands, represents the marking of the membership of the Republic of North Macedonia in NATO.
