“Today we are getting involved in the fight against pollution, which is one of the greatest concerns of the citizens, especially the citizens of Skopje. The activity is part of the Government’s policy, which last year obliged all ministries to foresee within their programs activities that will contribute to the protection of the environment”, said Minister Shekerinska, who got actively involved in today’s activity. She added that today one green belt is highlighted for the residents of Skopje, a belt where everyone plays sports and who see it as the lungs of the capital.
The Minister informed that the activity, which is related to the policy for increasing military-civilian cooperation, as an important policy of the NATO – Alliance, will continue in the following days in Tetovo and in Kichevo, cities where pollution is high, but also where the army has its own barracks and capacities to support this activity. She added that the goal is to realize more activities of this type throughout the year.
Deputy Minister of Environment, Jani Makraduli, and the Mayor of the City of Skopje, Petre Shilegov, thanked the Army and the Ministry for their active involvement in the protection of the environment. Shilegov stressed that 18,000 seedlings have been planted in the city of Skopje in a period of a year and a half and that this activity will continue in the future as well.
